Challenge
Combine the most used electrical testers on the market for a first of its kind of combo tester. This tester was to fit in seamlessly with current product offerings and brand language.
Approach
The IDS team worked with ECM to identify the GFCI and non-contact testers as the most essential for basic electrical work. Evaluating current product offerings from ECM and competitors led to a new and more intuitive approach. Sketches and renderings were used to convey form and function of these concepts. Refinement of the concepts focused on the user interaction as well as overall brand language of the product.
Solution
The Sperry DualCheck tester allows the user carry a single tool and perform the most common electrical testing tasks. Using a new 5 LED approach, the GFCI tester provides clear results without the need to read a chart or multiple LEDs.
